Jean-Luc Mongrain (1951–2026): A Voice That Would Not Be Silenced

Quebec has lost one of its most outspoken voices. Born in Sherbrooke and a graduate of the Université de Sherbrooke, Jean-Luc Mongrain left his mark on our television with his bluntness and his gift for oratory.

For nearly ten years, on Mongrain de sel, he shared his views and commentary on the news. He went on to TQS and then LCN, where his show drew up to 130,000 viewers. He never tried to please; he said what he thought, and pushed everyone to make up their own minds.

Behind the man who thundered on screen was a husband devoted to his Linda and a tender father. Quebec will remember his sincere indignation and his refusal to speak in empty phrases.

Thank you, Mr. Mongrain.
